Quill

Being an avid genealogical researcher myself, I’m well area that the usual themes frequently do not suit a genealogy blog. Genealogy blogs must accommodate photos and documents of all sizes and those doing genealogy research are not necessarily familiar with working with code to adjust for their needs. Although I have designed Quill with the genealogy site in mind, it would suit a wide variety of topics including art, history, writing, literature, etc.

Quill is a WordPress blog or website theme with fluid sheet and column widths to maximize the space available for photos and documents. The width is only limited by the width of the screen.

This theme, although much more flexible, will have its own issues though. If the viewer’s monitor is one of the ‘old fashioned’ narrow monitors, it’s likely there will not be enough room to allow for the width necessary when viewing if large images are present. To make this eventuality much less likely, I’ve set the fluid width at 80%, allowing for somewhat smaller monitors.

This great WordPress theme is open source, GPL licensed, widget ready, has valid XHTML, fluid width, fluid columns, right sidebar, and two columns.
